Every Three Seconds - Pope

Anna Pope's challenging work for SATB choir is about so many things - confusion and helplessness in the face of huge tragedy; the peril of iniertia and apathy; the danger of caring so much that is overwhelming and heartbreaking. How do we lie still in bed at night? How much do we have to lie to ourselves to keep on going? How can we find a way for the voice of the hungry and forgotten to be heard? Anna says "I make no apologies for this being a very difficult piece - it had to be. For this is such a challenging and unresolved subject. I hope that we will, one day, find a better way to be humans on earth. In the meantime, I hope you find equal mixtures of challenge and hope in this piece." Anna Pope, June 2020
